What is ghostwriting, and should I use it?

Ghostwriting happens when you hire someone else, hopefully a professional writer, to write something for you, usually a book, but ghostwriters can write articles, blog posts, songs, and even screenplays.

Typically, you are still involved in what gets written, which happens when the ghostwriter interviews you or others you know (if they're helping you write your memoir, for instance).

But the key is this: the book and its content and knowledge are yours. The ghostwriter is just a very talented scribe who helps you put everything together and get it into print.

It's called ghostwriting because the ghostwriter’s name typically does not get listed on the book's cover or inside as a co-author.

About the San Diego Ghostwriter

Yes, there is a live human being behind this website and business.

I have been a business and technical writer for years, and since 2013 I have been helping others write their books, especially nonfiction books that are memoirs, business books, or self-help books.

When you hire me, you work with me only; I don't farm work out to college students, interns, or offshore labor.

That way, I am there to guarantee your book is well-written every step of the way.

If you want something done right, do it yourself, as the saying goes. And that is how I run my ghostwriting business.
